breve historia de la composición del tema: Mark Knopfler estaba en un local de elctrodomésticos y escucha una conversación entre dos trabajadores del lugar que mirando a través de varios televisores la MTV, dicen algunas de las frases que integran esta canción- básicamente decían que la posta era ser estrella de rock porque: "ganan dinero por nada y tiene mujeres gratis" (money for nothing and chicks for free)
cosas de las cuales uno se entera mientras pone la aspen a las 11 de la noche un día domingo .- por suerte, porque encontré interesante a esta banda.
